What are the different types of solar inverters?
Solar inverters convert the electricity your panels produce from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) power. The three types of inverters are string inverters, microinverters, and power optimizers. Solar Wave offers all three but we typically install microinverters for our residential customers and string inverters for our commercial clients. Microinverters have many benefits. Common Battery Questions

Can I add a battery to my system later?
Although there are some installation advantages to installing a battery at the same time as your solar system, a battery system can be added down the road. The inverter you choose for your solar system will dictate the battery you can add in the future.
How long will a battery power my home?
This depends on many factors including the size of the battery system you install, and the breakers or loads that you have backed up. It is best to discuss your battery options with one of our experts who can properly size and estimate your battery backup capabilities.
Can a battery system backup my whole home?
Yes, a battery system can be engineered to backup your entire home. The size of the battery system you will need for this will depend on your power needs. It is best to consult with one of our battery experts to properly size and estimate a whole home battery setup.
Should I install a battery with my solar system?

The answer to this question really comes down to preference. A battery system will be there for you when the grid goes down to power your home. If you experience a lot of power outages in your area and you want to power essential appliances during these outages, then a battery is a great idea. There are also some markets where you can store and sell your energy back to the grid during peak grid demand times which can make a battery a great investment.
